I don’t know what’s going on! He’s always been an inside cat, he is fixed, he got lose two days ago and today I called his name and he ran to me. I picked him up and he scratched my hands up and my face. I left the door open so he could come in and he did, but now when I walk near him he starts hissing and making angry noises. When I got relatively close he acted like he was gonna pounce at me. What’s wrong with him?? What can I do?

It sounds like he is frightened. Give him some space and time and he will calm down. He was lost for two days and had to survive on his own, of course he's scared.
Thank you all for the advice, he was completely fine the next morning and he’s been doing well. I don’t think I’ll be letting him outside again tho haha.
He's probably just a bit angry and scared, give him a while and he'll be fine
Sounds like he's pretty scared. Confine him to one or two rooms for a few days till he settles down.
We recently moved to a country home and started letting our two cats outside. We have a pug too, so we put in a doggie door. Both cats are neutered males, one is a Siamese the other, Mr. Jones, was a rescue kitten. Mr. Jones, while not being aggressive towards me after his nightly roaming, has been aggressive towards my husband. Yet, it’s obvious from the look in his eyes that he’s in a different state. He has a wild look in his eyes and doesn’t make eye contact, early morning he’s very jumpy, and the two cats are more aggressive towards each other, and territorial. By midday, Jonezy is back to being sweet and loving, but he has become more nervous of loud noise, etc.
Siam isn’t as affected, yet, his breed is much more domesticated. Mr Jones was born to a feral mother. Your cat, like Mr Jones, may have a higher level of cortisol, a hormone, in his make up. Hence, he resorts back to heightened senses once out on the prowl. Cortisol is a survival hormone that is much higher in wild animals compared to domesticated ones. Cats have always been an anomaly, many can resort back to the wild and take care of themselves. BTW, Mr Jones catches birds, moles, etc, while Siam cannot. Give your cat time and he should be able to switch between his two worlds. The main question is - does he want to go outside now? If he does my answer may ring true. If he’s afraid to go out, then he may have been traumatized by his adventure.
While Mr Jones was much sweeter when he lived in the city, he is obviously much much happier with his independence. Therefore, we’ll continue to let him ‘have a life’ outside of just being our pet.
it sounds like he had a bad interaction out there in the real world. People can be jerks.
He's most likely angry that you've kept him inside, when in reality cats are meant to have free rein inside and out.
Give him some food treats and give him the choice, to live in or out or both.
Likely over stimulation, alone for 2 days/nights, been chased by other cats/dogs, near misses by cars, no one he knew around.... just let him settle, feed as normal, basically ignore him as far as trying to pet him for a few days, unless he comes and sits with you....... then check him for any injuries ( if you put on a pair of outdoor gloves he will scratch/bite them and not you) just in case he has been skimmed by a car or had a fight and that means you will need to crate him and take him to the vets as an injury could mean pain/infection
He wants some kitty kitty
Buy some Feliway it is a plug in thing that makes the cat in a good mood.
