they asked him to send some personal details by email before delivering the cash prize
what should he do?although he didn't subscribe in any competition to win this prize.
You can not win if you do not play, or buy a ticket, and they do not notify you by E-mail. They would not know your name.
Ask your friend why he are opening mail from people he does not know. It is a scam to get your personal information and/or money.
Do not respond to it.
Report it, forward it to the FTC at [email protected] and to the abuse desk of the sender's ISP.
Also, if the email appears to be impersonating a bank or other company or organization, forward the message to the actual organization.
And for your E-mail safety, remember:
Never open E-mail unless you are absolutely sure of who sent it, treat ALL others as spam.
Never give your personal information out to anyone, be it E-mail, snail mail, phone calls or at your front door.
It's yet another variation on the standard lottery scam. Just shift-delete the email.
It's a scam. They want his personal data to use for themselves. Don't give it to them.
