You don't know what to give on Valentine's day. Give him simply a bunch of roses and a chocolate, but give him True Love which he actually want to feel on the day. And then If you want to spend some money on him, just ask him what is his fav color and buy a shirt or something like that, you can invite him for dinner in home or in a good hotel or plan a movie... just think and you will get many better ideas than money.But money could not be a good gift for your fiance. good luck
Did he say "that's ok you can just get me money" or "you know I'm broke, I need the cash"? If the former then no, he really wants a gift. If the latter then you could possibly work some money into a gift. Like putting some cash on/in something he could use.
But you're engaged. If you love this person and he loves you, then cash is too impersonal.
