I adopted a dog about two months ago. The shelter
Told us he was about 2 years old but I suspect he’s a little younger. We were also told that he was half golden retriever, half lab but we think he may have some pit bull in him. When he’s just with my boyfriend and I, he’s as sweet as can be, growls when he plays but is not aggressive or mean. My boyfriends family has two golden retrievers that are about 11 years old and two new puppies that are 12-14 weeks old. He plays well with the puppies (play biting, pawing, very gentle) but the adult dogs don’t seem to like him very much. Fights have been initiated by both my dog and the older dogs.
My dog is very playful and seems to be very intrigued by other dogs. He always tries to run up to them but when he does, other dogs might growl or bark at him and then it seems as if my dog attacks after that. So far, none of the conflicts have resulted in harm to either party but how do I prevent something from happening in the future?

of course your dog is aggressive...why else does he rush other dogs when they dont like it...he is picking for a FIGHT.
you keep your dog on a leash is the way you "fix" this. you ve had this dog two months without serious injury inflicted on another dog, just wait.
give him a better teach to be a socialize
This dog should never be allowed offlead to run up to other dogs fgs. If you know you are putting another dog at risk then you need to take the precautions.
And if he can't be trusted with your boyfriends parents dogs then they shouldn't mix,.
You need far more socialisation training or just keep them apart.
Your dog needs to be correctly socialised and to learn manners.
Keep on a leash around the older dogs untol your dog learns how to behave.
LOL that "my dog gets in fights all the time but isn't really aggressive".
Are you really this stupid? Your dog IS aggressive and is attacking other dogs. You need to TRAIN this dog and should keep it muzzled when on walks and stop going to dog parks before you end up SUED.
Watch them very carefully so you know who's getting out of line and stop whatever they're doing immediately. If you can't do that, just keep them separate. Older dogs often have little patience with rambunctious young dogs
You keep him from DOING that by having him on leash, do basic obedience training to use vocal commands he will LISTEN to, and don't put him in position to be openly running up to dogs he's not safe with.
Make sure he's neutered, an intact male dog causes too many issues with aggression and the last thing you want is established patterns of behavior on something that can get you into legal trouble. Paying another owner's vet bill for their injured pet is going to cost you $$$.
Put it down.
