A perfect man would live forever in perfect health, according to the Bible. It is evident from what God said to Adam that if the first man had not disobeyed God, he would never have died. (Genesis 2:16, 17; 3:22, 23) Jehovah would not have declared the creation of man to be “very good” if the man had a tendency to get sick or to rebel. The fall from perfection explains why the human body, though marvelously designed, is susceptible to deformities and disease. The Bible presents modern man as the degenerating descendant of a perfect man.
The meek are those who endure suffering here on earth with patience and without resentment. This is just one of the eight beatitudes.
It's not this earth as Scripture states, this earth will perish. The new heavens and new earth is what the meek will inherit.
1 John 2:15-17
Do not love the world or the things of the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world, sensual lust, enticement for the eyes, and a pretentious life, is not from the Father but is from the world. Yet the world and its enticement are passing away. But whoever does the will of God remains forever.
1 Corinthians 1:27-29
Rather, God chose the foolish of the world to shame the wise, and God chose the weak of the world to shame the strong, and God chose the lowly and despised of the world, those who count for nothing, to reduce to nothing those who are something, so that no human being might boast before God.
Revelation 28:1
Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth. The former heaven and the former earth had passed away, and the sea was no more.
That's psychology designed to keep the peasants from rebelling by making them think they'll have a better "life" after they die. Imagine anyone falling for crap like that.

I believe that you may be in error if you believe that many will live this Earth forever.
Rev 21:1 Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and there was no longer any sea.
Rev 21:2 I saw the Holy City, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride beautifully dressed for her husband. NIV
As it states, "a new earth".
God Bless
It's a pity, then, that the Earth won't last forever. Besides, these "meek" will only inherit it, if it's a burned out husk what's the point?
