Sure, the Army might take you back but it will be entirely on their terms. You will be offered maybe one job, one that they have a hard time filling. You definitely will NOT transfer back as an E5, you will probably be offered E3. If I were you I would get out, use the GI Bill to get a useful degree then apply for a direct commission as an officer in the Army or Air Force.

how long have you been out of the Army?  if more than a couple of years you can expect to drop down to E4, and probably E4SPC at that

last I heard they only took 18x for prior service, on the rare occasions they actually took prior service 

either way, you won't get to choose a new MOS.. they will tell you what you will be doing.

most likely you will have to go back to the mos you previously held or one equilvant to your AF asfc

but at times there are under manned MOSs in your paygrade that they will let you retrain into.

you pick your enlisted job in The Army. the only real bar is ASVAB ratings. but even then, as an E-5 Prior Service you can probably get someone to sign off on you even if you fall slightly below requirements for a particular MOS.
