It will be my first DSLR, i've used them before though (i'm doing a photography course, and i use them everyday) I use a sony and a canon, not sure which type.
But i want to buy my own now, and i was looking at the Nikon 'D3100' but, i had a go on someones nikon the other day, and the buttons on it feel really tacky and plasticy, is this the case for all nikons?
What brand/make would you recomend?
oh and it would be great if a lens came with the camera, for example i was looking at the sony a290, which i would like views on that?

personally, i use a Sony A200 and love the cameras...
you need to look at the cost of the camera AND the accessories... what might be a good bargain for the body, might cost you more in the long run for the lenses, etc...
look for a deal at Jessops, Argos, PC World, warehouseexpress for kit and twin kit lens options...
(and don't forget the filters to protect your lenses too...)
The best thing to do is go into a photographic shop and try them all.
When I bought my first DSLR a couple of years ago I went into Jessops and had a go with two of each of the Sony, Canon and Nikon models.
Looking at the spec sheets, there was barely anything to choose between them in terms of megapixels or other features. In the end I decided that I didn't like the feel of the Nikons in my hand, and I settled on a 450D.
Lenses that come with the camera are usually called "kit lenses". Some DSLRs come "body only" and some come with a bundled lens. If you buy from a high street store, they will probably be able to do you a deal and bundle any lens with the body.
Pentax ok-r is between the main able get right of entry to point SLRs. Pity, Pentax's variety is somewhat patchy. 2d determination, is getting 2d hand. There are some rather able structures available, Canon's 40D would properly be outdated, even however this is a warhorse, and the Nikon D90 after some years nonetheless area of Nikon's lineup shows how good it exchange into and nonetheless is.
At that price I would go for a Pentax K-x which has won prizes for the best beginners DSLR:- http://www.amazon.co.uk/Pentax-K-x-Digital-Camera-...
