Mixing dry food with wet food is a recipe for bacterial disaster.

Like others have said, mixing dry food with wet causes tons of bacterial growth. After 20 minutes, its not safe for your cat to eat, and cats can survive eating weird things they find outside. Thats how gross mixing dry and wet food together are.

Just give them wet food. Pick it up after 30 minutes, this is when wet food begins to get a bit gross with lots of bacteria. With their stomach upsets, you don't want any more weird bacteria in their system.

Ditch the dry totally. When dry is moistened, it quickly becomes rancid and can be a 'bacterial soup' within 20 minutes. Dry kibbles are sprayed with fats to make them more appealing to cats, and that fat becomes a source of bacteria. Be sure to meal feed the cats, giving them only the amount they will eat in 10-15 minutes. This discourages overeating and prevents the hurling that follows.

Feeding a quality canned will help, as cheap foods are fillers and by-products and can be hard to digest. Read the ingredients, and if the food lists by-products as the first (non liquid) ingredient then it's not a quality food. The first ingredient should say a named meat - like chicken, and not chicken-by-products.
