Absolutely. They have stolen that word and made it their own to use, and no one of any other color can use it. That is the worst form of racial discrimination, to deny other races from using a given word.
Tell you another word they're trying take away from us...boy.
I once said "Boy are you ever wrong," and the black kid at my door went into a tirade with that oft heard "Who are you calling a 'boy'"? That was a word of interjection I've used for years, like "Boy was that a good movie" or "Boy that was a good burger." But this black boy was trying to intimidate me and take that word away from me.
I bought a gun and am now ready to defend myself in my own home. We libs are against weapons of mass destruction, but we aren't stupid. We will defend ourselves when threatened.
It is inappropriate and offensive for anyone to use that word whatever their skin colour might appear to be. No-one can claim the right to use a word and deny that right to others. If the word is offensive if I say it, it is offensive if you say it. If a word is not offensive if you say it, it is not offensive if I say it. I know the word is offensive and don't use it. People who do, whatever their skin colour, always offend others.
Saying "I can use it because I am black, you can't because you are white" is racist. When you classify people by the apparent colour of their skin and then make generalised statements based on that classification you are being racist whatever your own skin colour might be.
It is not racist to say that. In fact that statement is just good sense. White people should NOT say the N word, ever.
Racial insults are not logical constructs, they are HISTORICAL and SOCIAL constructs. They cannot be "turned around" and considered equivalent as if they were a math equasion. If a christian person made a joke to a jewish person about being afraid of an oven, for example, it's not the same as a jewish person making a joke to a christian about being afraid of an oven. The entire meaning is in the historical and social context. One is a silly statement, the other is a grave and serious bigoted insult.
so HISTORY and SOCIAL CONTEXT are the most important issues when determining the harm of a racially charged statement.
You might be technically correct ..... however, if you will educate yourself, do a little reading about black culture, you will understand why that word is offensive coming from a white person to a black person; and not so offensive between black people. I love the United States, including it's less-than-perfect history. It's sad to think that the bastion of freedom kept human beings as slaves.
No, it's actually not, because the subject word is intrinsically racist unless being used by a member of the oppressed class. It's not telling something that they "cannot do something", it's reminding them that their use of the word will be considered a racist slur unless they're a member of that slurred group.
No. There are serious reasons why it is inappropriate and offensive for white or Asian people to use that word. It's not racist to tell them that they shouldn't.

Yes, very true. Not that good of an argument for it at all.
