There's no acid in motherboards! Don't know what he's thinking. If anything is leaking other than water, it would be the liquid from the internal crystals, and if that's the case, there's no hope for the screen.

The water in it certainly isn't doing it any good. Water and electronics don't mix. Getting all the water out of the display will be very difficult and will have probably, or will, cause some corrosion of some kind. Honestly, I'd say it's probably not worth trying to fix or dry out, but you can try if you like, but don't expect too much.
