You think you are lovers, but he thinks you are just frends. Dont make a fool of yourself Date someone who likes you.
Flirting happens for a number of reasons:
1. They want sex and are testing to see if you are receptive to the idea.
2. They want something else from you, and hope that you will see the flirting as being flattering
3. They are bored
4. They are insecure and if they flirt with you and you don't laugh in their face, it makes them feel better about their own sexual desirability
5. Any combination, or all, of the above
It almost never means they want a relationship with you.
And young men (teens and 20's) think about sex and are horny most of the time, so they are constantly sniffing out opportunities for sex ... with anyone.
You are attached to him. He is attached to sex. Be careful or you will end up heartbroken.
As for screwing things up .. take heart.
IF someone IS compatible with you, you can be yourself and you will NOT screw things up*.
If on the other hand, you do screw things up then it was never going to work out or last for long anyway ... and the sooner you find this out, the less attached you will be and the less hurt when it falls apart.
*NOTE: emotional scenes and anger WILL screw up even GOOD relationships between compatible people, so that kind of "screw up" needs to be avoided.
What Flirting Involves
In the English language, flirting is not the same as the legitimate attention a man might pay a woman (or vice versa) in the opening stages of courtship. Rather, it means “to behave amorously [romantically] without serious intent.” The French call a woman who behaves in this manner a coquette.
Exactly what constitutes flirtatious behavior, though, is not so easy to pinpoint. Flirting may involve a look, a touch, a tone of voice, a coy smile—even the way one dresses, stands, or carries oneself. While flirting may be hard to define, however, it is usually quite easy to identify when a person is the object of it. In any event, if one is simply too young to pursue marriage, coquettish or flirtatious behavior is downright hazardous!
