I think the term "Four corners of the globe" is merely a metaphor. It's still used today. People of Ezekiel's time knew the earth was round because many cultures were successfully navigating the oceans. And all that navigating was based on a round planet. Anyway, Ezekiel said some pretty weird stuff that no one yet can truly figure out.
The term "the four corners" is an analogy; meaning the directions (north, east, south, west) not four actual corners as if the planet where flat with four corners. It's the same as when one says they are blue, or black. It is an analogy of feelings but does not mean they are the color blue or black, but rather sad or deeply troubled.
There's the pointy bit of Russia that points to Alaska, there's the tip of India, there's the bottom of South America, and there's the pointy bit on the north of Australia that points to New Guinea.
the pointy bits on Earth are there to make sure that giant space-dwelling aliens don't use our planet as a ball to play catch.
Other cultures had already figured out that the Earth was a sphere, and had a reasonable estimate of its size, even before -- according to the people who wrote the Bible -- the Earth was created.

Those books were written when there was no understanding of the shape of the earth.
