Yes, especially if you have a Win7 PC which probably did not come with a software reinstallation disc. You may have added other software from the internet, or have documents that you may need later- if so, a backup is crucial. If you have to do a complete system reset, you'll need some system restore discs at very least, if only to save you time following a crash or a virus. Note that the computer always completes a system restore point before installing new software of any kind- you might want to consider a regular data backup to an external drive, at regular intervals.
It is always wise to run a back up.even if you dont have music or photo's on your pc
It gives you protection in case of a breakdown of your hard drive or you need to partition it .
I usually suggest that in order to keep your personal files safe you partition your hard drive making two seperate drives and save all personal information etc music , pictures to the second drive that way if you need to format or restore to factory settings you dont loose your personal stuff.
Better still if you get a second hard drive you can keep all personal files on that
