not at all.
Alex Rodriguez is worth the money. look at ichiro getting $20 mil for a singles hitter. travis hafner getting $14 mil. hafner is batting .260 in a poor blue collar city. Alex Rodriguez draws fans to yankee stadium and any away ballpark the yanks play at. he is arguable the best baseball player ever. if he stays healthy he will break bonds' homerun record. not only does he hit homeruns, but he hits for average and plays defense. he is the best player in baseball so he should be paid so.
Im a White Sox fan and by looking at his numbers i dont think he worth all that money. But we do have him for a while and im sure he will do better with us. Its also a good thing to see someone who has decent power and can steal a lot of bases. Its also great to see Jerry Reinsdorf open his wallet. Im sure that next year will be a great year for us and we are still in this year.
For the White Sox, yes. They need a defensive outfielder with quality offensive ability. He is going to be the White Sox CF.
For the Blue Jays no, he ain't even their CF.
It also depends on how much the White Sox are willing to spend on salary in the future. The Blue Jays are obviously going to cut salary in the future.
As a Sox fan, I believe I'll know soon enough. In fact, I'll let you know about two months from now, next season. K?
As a Jays fan, I can tell you, he's not. Good guy, decent player, but not worth THAT much. He needs to start producing if he's gonna make that much.
Nope, hence the Jays were lucky that someone claimed him.
No, but there's no salary cap in baseball so if you've got the money, why not.
