I´m 23 years old and I´m about to graduate as an art historian and curator. In the meantime, my father got me a job as a receptionist in a big company that belongs to one of his friends. I kind of like it because they allow me to listen to music and it´s only a few hours a couple of days a week.
However, it also makes me feel very stupid and clumsy because I have to give my colleagues money so they can do some things and I have to do some math with the money that I simply do not understand.
I also have to deal with checks and bills that I also don´t understand.
The other receptionists who were supposed to teach me forgot to tell me many things and instead wrote them in a little notebook that is also very incomplete.
I feel like an idiot most of the time. Has somebody else ever experienced this?
I´ve only been working for a week....

Its very normal to feel 'stupid' when you're the newbie at a job. I recently just got a new job, and I'm still in training. Our store is massive, and we have so many products, with new ones continually being introduced, it seems so overwhelming still.
Just try to do your best and learn as you go, that's really all anyone can expect you to do.
