We talked on the phone for a day, really general stuff but I ended up telling him his English is flawless and that’s why I like him so much – he is very insecure about his English cuz it is not his mother tongue. He took it normally then but referred to it the next day quite casually so I knew he’d remembered. Most of my friends think I should not have said that but I don’t quite agree. A few other casual talks and he finally asked me if he could “promote me from a student to a studious friend”. I said yeah of course,I did you without your permission. He found it funny, spoke normally for a while and then hung up.

I noticed most of the casual talks were in the morning time when he was away from home and any studies related stuff was when he was home. He casually remarked once that he’d mentioned me to his wife as a student.

He hasn’t talked to me for 2 days now and the only times he did were to solve my doubts – and very professionally at that.

I have his class once or maximum twice a week. He is a research scientist at a big pharmaceutical company. Taking this into consideration, one of my friends just remarked that he is a married man with a kid and he is a scientist so she’s sure he is busy with other stuff and not worried or mad at me but…. Maybe I’m being paranoid but I think that his wife might have gone through his cell and found the harmless flirting …not so harmless.

I don’t want to wreck his relationship with his wife but I also want to know if I did something wrong or offended him in some way.

Should I ask him or just stay away?
