To tell you the truth it is not about belief but more about my reasons for not believing in a being such as a God. All tell you my top three reasons for it. First, God implies he is righteous and no one else is good but him. If the first premises is true, then he must know all of us aren’t 100 percent good right. Personal experience I’ll tell you. I love my father and it is not that I intend to make mistakes and make him feel sad but I am not perfect. Spiritually speaking, if I make a mistake is that enough of a reason to give me spiritual death cause I may have been told a lie or made a mistake? Then this parent or God is not understanding nor just to us. If my father left me as a child if I made a mistake I would never go back to him instead I would hate him not love him. My best friend left his mom since child birth and he doesn’t like his father nor love him. Secondly, if he wants me to prays him, adore him, to wow him, worship him, etc, he hasn’t shown me that he deserves such a thing. He made heaven and it didn’t work, a war broke in heaven. He made the Earth, his adversary to over the Earth. Not very impress ok. Look at the Earth and tell me he deserves prays and worship. Lastly, people of many places have made wars because of a God and this God hasn’t done anything to say what these people are doing is wrong. If he doesn’t care now, why should I care about him now or the here after?
I consider myself to be more good than bad, but my heart would break apart and no longer want to live if I was a God and send a human to hell foreknowing that I shouldn’t have made him in the first place.
I ask you. Would you make a human knowing there is no salvation to this being and torment shall be his fate and eternal punishment?
Update:Caramel, you seem like a nice person. I suggest you do the same things you are doing. Keep praying and not reading the dang bible more than half an hour. If you read more you may turn out like me. Praying only helps so much until you see the sad story about the bible. Once you find the truth, you wish you wouldn't have. I know I did.

Where I am concerned you are preaching to the converted.
For me it is the simple equation that I can not name one war that has not involved religion in one form or another; the actual definition of faith, being, " belief or trust: belief in, devotion to, or trust in somebody or something, especially without logical proof "
and the fact that I have never met a nonjudgmental religious person yet their "book" states quite clearly that is the way they should be " Judge Not Lest Ye Be Judged! and Let He Who is Without Sin Cast the First Stone Matt. 7:1" but hey what do I know; I'm just an atheist!
1st- The Earth has problems not because "God's adversary" took over (how can an omnipotent being have a true adversary) but because of people. You can blame peoples' mistakes on free-will and God if you wish, but we were given free-will for a reason (to learn and grow perhaps?). Don't blame God for the actions of man.
2nd- How do you know God isn't around and doesn't care about you? I used to think the same way. He's probably not going to manifest himself infront of you and start talking to you in English but He is around even if you are cursing him out and yelling about how much you might hate him (example). If God didn't care about you, I doubt he'd be letting you borrow his oxygen for free.
3rd- Keep in mind that we are humans and God is God and His knowledge is simply beyond us. There are some things that humans will NEVER be able to comprehend and I think its foolish to think we can KNOW everything (God or no god) no matter how hard we may try to wrap our brains around things. We can either put our trust in him or not, but the universe will continue functioning the same either way, so its up to us.

Seriously though, when God created us he did not know that Adam or Eve would sin like they did. God is like a radio of sorts in that he can turn on or off. He did not created us to damnation and torment but man chose to sin on his own and his woman did before him. Does it make any sense to you that he would create mankind knowing that man would blow it and cause illness and death for us all? NO. You have to read the Bible and ask for guidance as you read it, and ask for His Holy Spirit to come upon you as you read to help you attain an accurate knowledge as you read along. That's the only way. I too went through what you are going through but I began to pray and ask God for his guidance and spirit to assist me in obtaining the knowledge that leads to everlasting life.
I am not perfect but I am a Christian and I abstain from things that are evil and wicked for the most part. The worst to bear within me is I hate evil so much that I have a tendency to have vengeance at times. That's what I really need to work on. No one is perfect, but did you know that God promises to send his son once more, Jesus, to rid the earth free of wicked humans and Satan and his demons and those that chose God's ways will be saved? Obviously we can look around and see that that time is not far off.
Hang in there and hold on a little bit more.

God's true Church will teach Biblical literal six day Creation. NO Evolution.
God's true Church will have the gift of Prophecy.
God's true Church will preach Salvation by grace through faith in Jesus Christ.
God's true Church will stand against Sexual Immorality. Homosexuality, Adultery and Fornication are Sins.
God's true Church will preach against Strong drink. Alcohol is not allowed. (Proverbs 20:1).
Remember God's true last day Church will not be a popular Church. Most people will attack God's Biblical Church with vigilance. Satan himself will attack God's Church(Revelation 14:12) Truth crushed to the ground will always rise to the top.
