If I downloaded minecraft for free but then bought it will it update?
I downloaded it for free when their servers weren't working on minecraft. net. If I buy it now, will my game save and everything still be there? Will it update at all?
When you buy the game, all your rally doing is buying a premium account for the game, that enables you to play online, and have access to other feature as well as updates. It also allows you to play offline once you've played online at least once. All of your saves files and other content will still be located in the .minecraft folder, that is most likely located in App Data>Roaming.
Well, if the illegal Minecraft you downloaded placed all of you files in the right direction, it will save.
You can check if you have the saves in the right place, just launch Run and type in "%appdata%" without the ". Then go to .minecraft > saves and you should find there world folders like "World1".
