You won't even get to the drug test. At 6'0" 196 lbs, you are 6 lbs. overweight. That will prevent you from shipping.
The rule of thumb for the screening test at MEPS is to detect use in the past 60 days.
What you CAN do is tell your recruiter you are a few pounds overweight and want to wait a month to lose 10 lbs. If you lose the weight and don't smoke between now and going to MEPS, you SHOULD pass the drug screening.
I passed a drug test last summer when I was 5'10" and 165 lbs. I smoked on 4/18, 4/19, and 4/20, and the test was on the 27th. I passed. I was active, I drank a lot of water, and I had just come off a 45-day tolerance break for 4/20. I didn't know I was going to get tested for a seasonal job I was applying for. I got the call saying I got the job and had to take a drug test sometime soon on 4/21. That was definitely intentional... You could pass in a week no problem if you don't smoke often.
The test the military does can detect marijuana in your system all the way out to 45-60 days.
The cheap over the counter drug tests are not nearly as senstive. At three weeks, you have a very high chance of popping hot and being disqualified for life.
So Walmart, Dollar tree, etc sell those tests in store just ask a clerk or pharmacist where they are and you will have the confidence going in that you will pass your test since you would have already done the home version. Sometimes they are by the pregnancy tests/ contraceptives pay cash, buy a few other items with it and go through self checkout. The tests are super cheap, only take a few minutes and are anonymous.
you're an idiot. only time will tell if you'll pass or fail. if you can't stay off the weed, you shouldn't be serving. there are hundreds who have never smoked in their lives, but disqualified for other reasons, who would love to serve. and there are idiots like you who can't stop smoking, getting the chance to do so.
