If you need help, find an ENROLLED AGENT in your state. These are cheaper than CPAs and actually better since their licensing is based on taxes only. (I took ONE tax class to sit for the CPA exam.)
Note, until 1/20/2020, you will have to MAIL paper returns in. As Judy pointed out, you must use 2017 software to generate a 2017 return.
If you use a professional, they can efile both years after 1/20.
You'll have to get a copy of TT for the year you need to file. Each year the numbers change, and some of the other rules, so a different year won't work. If you qualify to use a VITA or TCE site https://www.irs.gov/individuals/free-tax-return-pr... , take this year's taxes there to get them done. The preparer might be able to help you on the back years too if they have time, but they're usually pretty swamped.
For TurboTax you have to get a new disk every year.
If you are a realtor who can't afford to retain a professional to prepare you return (and probably save you more than the fee) you are in the wrong business.
Yes, Turbo Tax and other tax software can file 2017/2018 taxes for you. Believe it or not, you can also file with a paper and pen. You don't need a high-cost CPA. A licensed tax preparer and/or a licensed tax consultant are far less expensive and some have many years of experience.
Quickbooks does not do taxes. It is accounting/bookkeeping software.
TurboTax does taxes. However, you will need a different version for each year.
Generally, it is cheaper to pay a professional to file the returns than to a professional to fix them later. TurboTax is OK but it can only be as good as the person entering the data.
Also, the IRS is not accepting electronically filed returns right now as they gear up for the new filing season. If you do your returns now, you will have to mail them in.

I'm sure most of the tax softwares allow you to (I know TurboTax does) but you will have to purchase the software for both years.
Only professional tax preparers can e-file for previous years so you will have to print out the forms and mail them.
