Provisional is around £50, and CBT around £100 including bike hire. Insurance is perhaps around £300 a year depending if you're 16 (Based on what friends pay), cheaper if older usually.
You can pick up a decent second hand moped for around £500 these days. I had an 07 plate Malaguti XSM50 that I sold for 495, in very good condition. It uses the common Minarelli engine to, like the Aprillia's do.
What moped style are you into? Scooter or motorcycle?
Some I'd reccomend are...Piaggio Zip 50, Yamaha Aerox 50, Yamaha JOG 50, Gilera Stalker 50, Derbi Senda 50, Suzuki TS50, Yamaha DT50, Derbi GPR50, Gilera DNA50 etc etc.
Basicly, stick with well known Japanese or European branded bikes and you cant go far wrong. Avoid Chinese branded bikes, cheap for a reason.
In the workshop I'm at we sometimes build Lexmoto Arrow 125s, these make great learner bikes and in my opinion look so much better than scooters, they only cost around £1050 to buy the bike and get it on the road.
