The Bill of Rights prescribes that all criminal trials in the US are to be open to the public. Part of the purpose of a trial is to punish wrongdoers and get dangerous people off the street, but another really important purpose so so that people will know what happened.
When Jerry Ford pardoned Pres. Nixon before he was ever even tried, people were angry, not because Nixon wouldn't be punished but because a trial would have shown us what happened. When Spain arrested Augusto Pinochet, they wanted to try him even though nobody over 70 goes to prison in Spain. People of the world (and especially people of Chile) to know what happened.
This is the case with Trump. If there was conspiracy with Russia, Americans ought to know what went on, even if the Repubs in the Senate would block Trump's removal from office no matter what. THEY don't care if he's a crook but voters do! Just as Nixon said, "People have a right to know if their president is a crook."
I think that is what the Democrat's hope. If not impeachment (except Pelosi, who just doesn't want the truth to come out about Trump's innocence), then just a thickening of the dark cloud of Sauron the Democrats keep pushing out of Mount Doom in Mordor (Washington DC).
What I hope happens is Mueller is caught off guard, inexplicably, and begins to say things that he didn't want anyone to hear. God willing.
The efforts of the Democratic Party to spread their influence.

Making Dear Leader look more bad before the election is good enough.
Mueller was in it for the money, he even knew there was no collusion
No impeachment. Try learning our Constitution.

It won't .
Something went very wrong in 2016. Just like on 9/11. As usual the GOP has to be forced to have hearings about it.
Really depends on what he says...
