How to work out 2.50 ÷ 12.50 WITHOUT A CALCULATOR?
I feel border line slow not knowing how to get the answer even though i can clearly see the answer is 0.20 in the book i am looking at but every time i work it out it's 5. What am i doing wrong?

2.50 ÷ 12.50 = .2 or 1/5
12.5 ÷ 2.5 ---> 125/25 --> 5/1. See, you were dividing 12.5 by 2.5 instead of 2.5 ÷ 12.5
You are getting the answer 5 because you are dividing 12.5 by 2.5, which is 5. Do it the opposite way, 2.5 divided by 12.5 and you will get the correct answer.

You can multiply both sides by 10 to make the numbers easier to work with.

125 goes into 25 zero times but goes into 250, two times. Since it past the decimal point it will be 0.2 times.
12.5 Divided By 2
You would get 5 if you did 12.50 divided by 2.50, but you're supposed to be doing 2.50 divided by 12.50.
