The letter ę is sort of a nasalized e. Say e, and then close the back of your mouth while closing your lips slightly. It's nasal, sort of like the English "-ing" but without the g and only "think" the n.
Ą is the same, except that it's a nasalized o. Yes, o not a. Start saying o, but make it nasal with the back of your mouth and close your lips very slightly.
For both of these letters, you start saying o or e and then make it nasal. But it's not a diphthong, more like a 1.5-phthong.
