Find the numeric code that stands for the symbol you want to write.
2. Enable Num Lock.
On usual keyboards Num Lock is a button located on the right side (on Num Pad). When you'll enable it, the green Num Lock indicator will shine on. (Some laptops don't have the number pad!)
3. Press Alt button.
4. Type that code on Num Pad.
Hold Alt key pressed and (while holding) enter the numeric code for the symbol that you want to input. The code needs to be entered on the Numeric Pad - right key pad on usual keyboards.
5. Release Alt key.
If you did everything right then the symbol should have been inserted after you've released the Alt key. If it didn't work when you typed the code while holding right Alt key - try holding the left one.
The code for the black square is 219 █

You can just go to Google, type in "Unicode symbols" and copy and paste.
