Its a bit of a badly worded question, as there are true elements in most of the answers. While some of them are incorrect as well. Though I go for D also.
For example
A Yes they all ganged up on China, but the emperor was not overthrown.
B - Defo wrong. China did not industrialise for nearly another 120 years (assuming the start of the imperialism was the Taiping rebellion)
C - Bit of both tbh, as the Chinese government at the time was FORCED to deal with the imperial powers directly.
D - Which is kinda true, Germany for example got Qingdao, Britain got the Pearl River delta area etc
I am going to guess that it is a mixture of C and D. All the nations were in separate areas of China (kinda) but they also made the central government go along with the things they thought best for their countries. Oh yea Ken in your examples where did the US get? You know Britain got Hong Kong what did the US get. It seems like every time China got into trouble the US was involved in one way or the other. If the US had not helped China during the Japanese occupation China would be speaking Japanese today, well part of it the rest would be speaking Russian.
e. the imperialist needed chinese tea while the chinese did not need any of the imperialist's goods so the imperialist started selling opium to the chinese in order to balance the outflow of silver from the imperialist pocket that was bankrupting the imperialist
The Spanish were colonizing, i.e. bringing citizens of their country to the new lands and setting up basically mini-countries of Spanish citizens. The British only wanted the resources and markets these places could provide, so they sent in governments officials (like the Viceroy for British India) and troops to occupy these countries. Those people brought their immediate families, but it was not open season for British citizens to immigrate to these new lands.
F-because China brags about its empires all the time (Empire massage/cafe/hotel/shoe cleaners...), but blames other countries for their imperialism and hegomonic actions.
Like the other intelligent answers before me, I will also select "D" as the best choice.
China was too big, therefore it's too hard for the invader to conquer the whole country.
D ...55% certain
