-I applied for a job (similar to my current role at a college) at a large university in New York (I currently live in PA, but am from New York originally).
-I met all the minimum qualifications and even exceed the experience requirements.
-I interviewed on Friday and met with (1) the hiring committee and (2) some staff from the department, including the director.
-I arrived at 10:30 AM and left at 12:00 PM (once the interviews were over).
-The interview went very well in my opinion.
-There were a few scripted questions the committee had to ask, but they asked many detailed questions as well. Especially with the department staff, we were very comfortable with each other during the interview. They did not give me easy questions, but I was able to answer everything in a concise and complete manner.
-When explaining my background and experience, I remember the director saying a few times that certain particular experience "would be very helpful in this role".
Update:Note: They gave specific days when I would hear back and explained interviews were happening this past Friday and Monday (yesterday). Also, they told me their staff had a training today, which would delay the process.

Honestly, there isn't and ultimately, it doesn't matter whether or not they are interested; it matters that they are MORE interested in you than any other candidate.
Your gut is probably correct--the folks seemed to like you and felt you have the skills to fulfill the role. Unfortunately, they might also interview some who they like more.
Good luck. I don't know that where you come from or where you currently live is going to make a difference.
Sounds like it went well. You won't know for sure until you hear from them again, since there might be other candidates with similar qualifications. Good luck.
When they offer you a job.
