well 5 only has two factors (1,5) so...
(x - y)(5x - 5y) or (5x - y)(x - 5y) are your only two possible answers
so just multiply out to see which works....
the first one gives you middle term of -10xy
the second one gives you middle term of -26xy....hooray
1. Multiply the first and last terms: 5 x 5 = 25
2. Find 2 numbers that multiply to equal 25 and add to be 26: -1 and -25
3. (5x-1y)(5x-25y)
4. Then reduce the second set of terms, 5 goes into both 5 and 25: (x-5y)
5. Your answer is (5x-y)(x-5y)
Hope this helps!
= ( 5x - y ) ( x - 5y)
