The equation is (a 2) 5 8 Clear the fraction 5(a 16) Multiply by 5 to clear the bracket 5a 80 Get rid of the 80 5a= 480 Divide by 5 a= 96 = 10 = 80 = 400 The solution is a = 96

It's tough to see how you can go from (a - 2) to (a - 16).
this doesn't make sense. your work seems to be meaningless, I think you are missing some symbols.
as far as I can tell, this is
58(a−2) = 10
58a – 116 = 10
58a = 126
a = 126/58 = 63/29
