I know it's extremely simple, and I either add 2 to 8 or subtract it, I just can't remember which. Please help?
You don't want to get rid of the 8 because that's the only term on that side of the inequality.
Add 2 to each side.

1. 8>d-2
2. 8+2>d-2+2
3. 10>d or d>10
Remember, when you have an equality symbol, think of the symbol as an equal sign, then it's that same as solving an equation with an equals sign. Like: 2x=10
