So I was doing the SAT math subject test book, and came along this problem "The square root of what positive number is equal to one-eigth of that number?" the answer key said √y=1/8;y=1/64 y²; 1/y=1/64; y=64. I am confused how how can y=1/64 y ² be equal to 1/y=1/64?

√y = y/8 square both sides
y = y²/64 ----- divide by y²
y/y² = y²/64y²
1/y = 1/64
or y = 64
