How can they possibly know (or care) what it's like to be an ordinary person on a fraction of that amount & having to make economies?
And what gets me, how the hell do they get to decide their own salaries? Especially after the expenses scandal?
And how come they get given a free posh London house too? Why doesn't parliament just buy a London block of flats & give MPs the USE of a flat in that block, but ONLY while they're MPs?
Money money money. Yes, MPs, you certainly are all in it together. Shame about the rest of us.

It's very simple, my friend. If you pay peanuts you get monkeys. We need the brightest and the best running the country - even that might not be good enough, anything less certainly is not.
Since that's obviously true, we probably don't pay enough. We know that the smartest and hardest-working people can earn a hell of a lot more than £70k or £80k - there are a lot of folk out there on £200k and £300k salaries. A company trying to make a profit won't pay that kind of screw to people if they don't think they are worth the money, either. Can't afford to.
So why aren't we paying that to our MPs and thus getting the very best minds the country can offer in Parliament?
Look at it another way: Wayne Rooney earns in a few days - much less than a week - more than we pay in a year to people we want to run the country for us.
You want the best people doing the job? Fine, pay them the best money, then. We don't and you can see the results.
