could someone help explain this to me?
just draw the right triangle and it is obvious
sin 70 = sin (90-20 ;)
sin (90-a) = cos a ;
sin (90-20) = sin 70 = cos 20
This is how sine and cosine function are related.
Consider a right angled triangle ABC , right angle C , angles are A = 70⁰ and B = 20⁰
AC is hypotenuse
AB is opposite angle A
AB is vertical
BC is horizontal
sin 70⁰ = AB/AC
cos 20⁰ = AB/AC
sin 70⁰ = cos 20⁰
sin 70 = cos 20.
a co-function will equal the function value if the 2 angles are complementary.
sin(70) = cos(20) since sin(x) = cos(90 - x).
sin(90-A) = cosA
sin70=cos(90-70) here A=70
sin70= cos20
