English players pressure upon the ECB has begun showing effect. They have requested the BCCI to reschedule future IPL seasons to dovetail more successfully with the England first-class season in response to pressure from England players who are clamouring to participate in the event.

Phew...Tough to be an Indian these days.....:-)
Update:BQ) Just because the Aussies earn more than the English and also get to play the IPL, is it right on the players’ part to pressurize the ECB to increase the amount? I mean it is obviously fair to ask for the increment but it looks that the players are demanding much much more than what they actually deserve (?)BECAUSE THEY WANT A COMPENSATION for not getting to play in the IPL.

That is good news. Do you think the BCCI give a damn about the English players requests though? If the BCCI could get a deal with Sky for IPL rights that would obviously be very lucrative. Getting a deal with Sky would obviously be helped with having English players in the league. If they move the IPL that will clash with India's Test schedule though, but no one in India cares about Tests so I suppose it doesn't matter.
Thank you for you unashamedly outspoken question. No hint of arrogance there......:-)
BQ) If the English players don't get enough money it is only fair they should have a chance to line their pockets with Indian money in the IPL. The Indian franchises are making international players rich while they go broke so the English players should cash in too no?
When I read this news this morning, it made me smile to see how everyone wants a pie from this lucrative show that is comparatively easy money for the players. ( not long ago, a "B" Grade MCC team used to be sent on India tour as important players used to shy away from visiting this 'third world' Hell).
It made me also laugh at ECB's naive (and arrogant?) request to reschedule the IPL instead of looking at its own season period to dovetail with the IPL schedule. Poor 'firangis' probably haven't been told that March is Exam time in India and there is no way at all that IPL can start then.... similarly, there is no way commercial loss will be borne by cutting short the duration of the Tournament in order to finish earlier, for the sake of a few English players who obviously find more value in IPL and yet don't have the guts to forgo a few of their domestic fixtures because ECB are in a denial mode to acknowledge that reality. ECB request to BCCI is not only foolish and hypocritical.... it's rank overbearing attitude even as completely inconsequential in terms of its weight and meaning.
@RSRD. .The truth is IPL needs Foreign Cricket Stars to survive. Do you think anybody from other parts of the world will care damn about it without foreign players which also representing their respective country players?
I even don't think even Indians would get this much affected to it at all if unknown Local Indians play it. IPL become this much glamourous and Profitable because of foreign Players.
I'm sure BCCI would do anything to attract other stars from other countries for IPL to survive
When it started it was stated that IPL would not impinge on international cricket or countries' domestic competitions. Didn't last past the first season, did it?
Without foriegn players,IPL is just another Indian competition.
IPL is a cancer for world cricket man..I thought only SL , NZ and WI will go after the money but seems like Aus , ENg too are no different !
