Okay so I know when to use imparfait and I know when to use passé C. but we're doing an activity where we have to use both in one sentence, so it will give us a sentence and two verbs and we have to figure out whether to make the verb passe or imparfait. Some sentences can have one passe and one imparfait and some will have two passe/imparfait. So if you could tell me if I' doing this right that would be fantastic and could you explain why im wrong or right? Thank you SO much!
1. Il a ______ (Faire) si beau que les trois enfants ________ (rester) dehors pendant toute la journee
For faire I put "a fait" and for rester I put "restaient"
2. Pendant que Michel _________ (grimper) à l`arbre, il ___________ (voir) un écureuil
For grimper I put ``grimpait`` and for Voir I put ``a vu``

1. Il a ______ (Faire) si beau que les trois enfants ________ (rester) dehors pendant toute la journee
"fait" (for faire) and "sont restés" (for rester) ... so partially correct. Fait is already imparfait, so it follows that rester needs to be conjugated using passé composé.
2. Pendant que Michel _________ (grimper) à l`arbre, il ___________ (voir) un écureuil
"grimpait" (for grimper) and "a vu" (for voir) ... completely correct.
You know, the first one in 1. is a gimme, since THEY put the avoir there!
Yes. That looks good.
