I am writing a 20 page research paper on apocalyptic media and its influence on today’s viewer. I’m looking for specifics, as detailed as you wish to give. Specifics like, do you feel that something is coming? If so are you preparing in any way? Is your mind set for something to happen Dec. 21, 2012? Do you crave this type of media, and why? Do you feel the media is purposefully creating fear and panic about global warming, 2012, H1N1, MRSA, SARS or the recent surge in solar activity like they did with the supposed Y2K bug of 1999? And last, why do you feel they are doing this?
As this is a scholarly research paper, concise, intelligent and well thought out responses are greatly appreciated as I will be quoting posts in the final paper.

I've survived Y2K, Bird flu, Swine flu, and Mad Cow disease. 2012, BRING IT! My friend has MRSA, it doesn't affect her too much. She takes her antibiotics and she's fine. I have faith that global warming can be slowed/solved/have reduced effects of what the predictions are. I have been educated (by howstuffworks.com) on 2012, and am not afraid. I hate how many shows there are on the end of the world. Life after Humans, Nostradamus Effect, etc.
I think most of this hype is starting to depress people instead of educate them. I think people should be concerned for the future, but I don't think that we have to be scared of it. If everyone was a little bit more optimistic I think it would be easier to enjoy the day God gave us. Most of the world's problems could be solved by creating better habits for ourselves. Plus, most of the good habits we'd create would make us happier people in general. THE CIRCLE OF HAPPINESS!! -- 14-year-old girl looking forward to driving on Dec. 22 2012
Maybe this is gibberish, and you probably wouldn't want to quote a word of it. I think my logic is right even if it didn't come out as smoothly as I wanted it to.
