I am English but live in France, I went into a supermarket quite recently and stood in a queue in the fish department. Without speaking to her, the girl said in pretty good English ' Yes sir, what can I get for you?' I was astounded, how did she know I was English, I had never been in that supermarket before as we were on holiday on the south coast. 'How did you know I was English' I asked, she smiled and replied 'You look English' I was not aware that someone could look 'English' but obviously we do.
YES! My ex husband's family was from Spain and I still have his last name. I'm really tired of getting mail and phone calls from solicitors in Spanish. I mark the mail "return to sender--don't speak the language" and hang up on the callers. The weird thing is with the phone calls I know there are choices of buttons to push to get off the list---but I don't know what they are since I don't understand the language. (My ex didn't speak the language either.) So I don't know if I'm offended, but certainly annoyed.
No, because sometimes people will ask or assume because that is what you may appear like on the outside to some. It is sometimes just an assumed physical observation & the person may not mean to offend.
No. I'd rather get upset about long term unemployment, losing my house, my husband realizing he's gay, my friend making up lies about me or friends or family trying to boss me around. People have stated that Aussies are similar to Kiwis and that failed to offend me. Usually when I get upset about something I can hold onto it for a while and I discuss it with the person who's said it and tell them how they've upset me. Then I either get over it or I don't.
why be offended over such stupid inquisitions you really shouldn't even think about getting offended that makes you stupid ash hell I've been confused for being Italian but I'm Mexican American with grandparents who are native American and fro Spain so ink how that works

No its interesting to hear the different races I may resemble ans gives me and opportunity to mess with people
A lot of people assume I'm Polish or German.
It doesn't bother me.
i am white - nobody was ever confused about my race, even when i come home after being all summer in italy and am very tanned
Amused, mainly. But it rarely happens to me.
