I suffer from SAD and I really think that the proper sunrise alarm would help. I tried one where you just plug your lamp into a timer/dimmer X-hours before you want to wake up, but that was cheap and never worked well, I have also tried putting my lamp on a timer. Both these methods have produced beeping, clicking, or buzzing sounds that I can't stand.
I have a Apollo/Phillips Golite that I like, but it doesn't have the functions to be an alarm, and the all-blue light is a little annoying.
The BlueMax™ Sunrise System 320, has a wider spectrum that is rich in the 470nm range, and I thought it looked pretty good. And it seems to be reasonably priced.
Thanks.
Update:Hey, Metal Babe... great answer. You wouldn't tell a diabetic to get over themselves and stop shooting insulin, or an asthmatic to take a breath and chill, would you? (maybe you would). Depression and SAD are diseases just like diabetes or asthma. Many people suffer and need medication to function. And hey, if you read my question, I'm trying to find a way to help my disease WITHOUT using pills. Don't bother commenting on things you don't understand or care about.
HangingChad: thanks for the info, but I am still looking for reviews for the BlueMax ;)

I tried the "Day Light". It's excellent. You can find it on Amazon.
haha that is a joke. That's not an illness. I LOVE winter. Why would anyone's mood change over that crap? Stop saying you have that crap just so you can overdose on pills.
Huh?
