FDR and Lincoln didn't have teleprompters, so that may have hurt them. Also, they weren't so busy trying to be The Messiah, The Chosen One, The Supreme Leader of the New World Order. Gotta get plenty of "face time" for that!
You must be a Kool Aid drinker because most of his speeches are far from historic or important. Most of the time he says nothing in his speechs. The are full of platitudes and flowery words but actually say very little.
Then again if you give as many speeches as often as he does then I guess that could make them seem important, historic, and major.
They are hyped up by the Liberal Media so much every time he speaks so it seems important. Especially when all he did was doing some more blaming the west, pandering towards Muslims and didn't act like the United States President...
The world is totally different than it was then. Our world of instant communications was not even a gleam in the eyes of their generation. What our President has to say to the Muslim world is important and historic. I would think that every speech he gives is "important" since he is the leader of our country.*
No. Obama is a narcissist with a superiority complex rooted in insecurity. He has to please everyone and thrives on adulation and praise. He has a severely flawed character, and everything he does is self-centered and designed to spotlight his 'abilities'.
This is apparent in his speeches - he changes himself constantly to appeal to whatever group he addresses -this is not to be confused with being a president to everyone. It means he compromises any loyalties he may have to one group one day, and changes his loyalties in order to gain approval from opposing groups. You can't be everything to everyone - all you end up being is phoney - and that suits Obama perfectly.
So - what's your point? FDR and Lincoln are dead. Were you expecting them to enter a debate ?
Obama has given some very well received speeches - not because of wording or speaking style - but because of the clarity and truth of message that he delivers.
That is not a good thing. The less I see of my president, the better. He, and government need to go back to doing the job they were originally intended to do and let the people run the country.

You mean the truly historic ones (a couple) or the ones that the media dubs historic (which include him yelling at Bo for pissing on Joe Biden)?

No.
Every speech Obama gives represents a "major" failure of the democratic process.
Every bill he passes is a "historic" loss for the free market and for freedom as a whole.
And every action he commits is "important" because it demonstrates how little the average American understands about where he is taking the country.

He is the only one to sell out and bash America in his speeches.
