There was a similar incident when I was in high school. A teacher in our school hit a student who he was having an argument with. Whenever someone brings up the idea of arming teachers I think about that incident. If that teacher had had a gun perhaps the kid would have ended up dead
It may not be the safest method in every situation, but for the most part this would cover a majority of students, teachers would also have to go through more strict regimens in order to become a teacher, it wouldn't be as easy because there would be more responsibility
Interesting take and while I agree with you that arming teachers is not the way to go. I have yet seen anyone advocate for arming all teachers. The suggestion has been a handful in each in school that are properly trained and where the weapons are properly secured. Your take is hype, fearmongering, BS, and if this is what you have been taught or picked up from the news, then you need to find other sources.
Your science teacher should've not been a teacher in the first place, I blame the sh*tty public school system. If it were a private school, then you'd get more sane teachers. Also nobody is saying that every teacher should be forced to own a gun, they choose. I'd rather a teacher be armed to protect the students against a shooter, rather than the teacher be unarmed and everyone is killed just for the police to arrive and draw their bodies on chalk.
Only those teachers who are willing and able to get the necessary training and background checks should be armed. BTW, no one who would punch a student should even be teaching, let alone be armed.
ALL teachers wouldn't be forced to carry firearms, only those who volunteered. i'd rather have conceal carry teachers with firearms, then more police or other law enforcement stationed throughout the schools.

Giving all teachers guns isn't being suggested. By anyone. Anywhere.

Not a question, reported.

Your right. Take all guns away from people and the criminals will all rise above it all
