I've always wanted a sun conure, but can't afford one ($450-500 here!). As this is going to be your first bird, I would recommend the cockatiel. Both birds make great pets when socialized properly, however the conure is a bit more work. Cockatiels are just as gorgeous, sweet, loving, and around the same size so you wouldn't have to worry about big vs. small etc. Cockatiels can be taught to whistle all kinds of tunes, and while they can sometimes be loud (usually when they are scared or uncomfortable they'll screech), they're not the noisiest of birds lol
They are messy, as are most birds, and as you did your research, I'm sure you are aware.
But overall I stick with the cockatiel for first time bird. They will be less stress on you and they're still awesome birds :)
Then if you've still go time and money for a second bird down the road, maybe you can add the conure.
if youve never owned a bird, go cockatiel. a rescue would be best. so many big birds end up in shelters because first time owners werent prepared for the noise mess and commitment involved.
It would be the best for you to buy a bird from the google playstore .Ask me how?I'll tell you a little secret.Go to youareastupidfool and download the bringinggamestolife software.Install it in ur computer and wait for a while.A Hobbit will come and ask you what u want .You tell him your problem and he would summon a white wizard known as Gandolf and he would solve the problem.....

The Cockatiel could be a good first bird. They certainly do not make that much noise.
A sun can be very demanding and loud when not happy.
Both make great pets if they are socialised well.
Can I advise you to join a bird forum and ask questions there.
Try Talk Parrots. I think you will get good advice there.
Don't post on Avian Avenue, they may give you a bit of a hard time if this is going to be your first bird.
