Actually that's not at all true. Many people live on a very low carb diet. Normal people eat about 300 gms of carbohydrate a day. It is your bodies preferred source of energy. However..... it is not your bodies only source of energy. Your body can burn fat as well and in a pinch, it can even convert protein into energy. People with diabetes are asked to limit their gms of carbs to about 150 a day. They usually end up on multiple medications and insulin.... Some people go even further..... down to as little as 10 gms of carbs a day. I have known a few people who eat zero carbs..... What happens is that your body goes into a state called Ketosis.... that's where it is burning fat instead of carbs. Your body runs just fine on fat. So does your brain.... there is a period of adjustment that lasts from a few days to maybe 2 weeks that is lovingly called the Keto Flu. You feel like shyte. Your body is like "Phuke you! Feed me donuts!". but it adjusts and the mental fogginess goes away... So does the diabetes if that's why you're eating Keto.
