To walk in love, you got to show some love, and sometimes, this takes a surrender, to go and do... You either are with Life, or Death!
be doers of the word, not hearers only....
If we don't then, brother, we dry up...
are like withered leaves..
be a generous gifter, in all that you do, and feeling the smile of God in his heart for YOU means you extend that smile to others... without doing so, causes one to question, if your love of God is real, asking if one who says they are of God are even capable of being one of the chosen... it really boils down to this, we are either for God, or not, there is a line here
Just as Jesus drew the line in the sand, so much we. We choose whom and what we serve daily.
kindnesses rendered, add sunshine...
keeping up the good work is living a Kingdom principle..:))
Godly faith produces...actively, it toils not for good grades but for God's purposes , showing a life that is full of Godly wisdom, and understanding. God kind of love in us shows, serves beyond man's selfish ends, is peace loving, also submissively leans towards God's ideal of wisdom.
it takes a humbled heart, to face all the challenges. The natural man follows the flesh, and wants to sit on his throne... whereas the true follower of Christ, wants God to rule his kingdom...
Self leads to death ~ sterile soil
Living righteously reaps a crop of righteousness. A good harvest, cannot be expected to come from human soil...
A sterile soil is unable to produce the best fruit, this being the kind of heart, self rules... many conflicts exist for one who lives for gain. Death is found in one whose only thought is of personal gain, whereas being led by Godly Spirit lead to Kingdom character.
I'm sure you've seen this. Someone claims to be a Christian but they're mean and judgmental. I once heard it said that the holiest Christians are the meanest. These are the people who walk the walk and talk the talk but their hearts are not in it. They use Christianity, as the fundamental extremists do, as an excuse to hate.
On the other side, there are some who feel that all they have to do is good works. They have a long list of do's and don'ts. They try to become acceptable to God in this manner, but they don't have the faith behind it. The Bible says that All our righteousnesses are as filthy rags. We can't earn our way into heaven, it's a free gift from God Eph 2:8-9.
If we are sincere Christians, we will have faith in Christ for what he's done for us and our good deeds will follow. We will do kind things for others and not cut them down. We do good deeds out of gratitude for what God has done for us. We need both faith AND works to be complete Christians.
Edit: A better meaning for the word "dead" in this passage would be useless. It's useless to have faith in God if your actions don't show it. You're not going to get to heaven. As an example, I know of people who read the Bible, go to church, talk about God, and sell drugs. Then they have the audacity to pray to God to protect them from the police, an institution God established to promote justice (Rom 13). This is the type of people and faith that this passage is talking about, the hypocrites.
If you have turned lordship of your life over to Jesus, your actions will reflect His will. If your life does not reflect the will of God, you have to question what you have placed your faith in.
