i think all women do it, is's how they are trainned as little girls to find a guy who is a good provider. these days i think men are moveing a way from marriage because long ago when women took care of ther husbands men felt good about giveing women benifits. but now women dont feel that it is important to take care of there mates. they think its all about them. i think a woman can have a carrier and do anything she wants but when she dosent take care of her relationship at home then why get married and work hard ?
I do not know a single person who has a divorce story like this. The closest to this is my mum was abused for 9 years, finally managed to leave my step dad and she took only the bare essentials. She didn't even have a bed for a year. She had 5 children at that time, the eldest had already moved out and she gets jack all for child support. And I have a friend who after three years of marriage, had his wife cheat on him.. but he was doing like wise too her so it was "fair". He got the house (which still has the mortgage) with everything in it. I know more people who have had a 'successful' marriage than people who have had a 'failed' marriage. I think your friends were stupid to enter into a marriage, when they had no idea about what it is. When you said "they changed", what the hec did you and they expect? No one person or relationship remains exactly the same for their entire life. Change is natural and inevitable. It isn't all the women's fault either. I'm sure their husband played their part in the breakdown of the marriage. A marriage isn't supposed to end in divorce. If it does each person is equally responsible for it. The benefits of marriage for a man (and a woman) is to spend the rest of their life with the person they love. They get to grow and CHANGE with one another. They learn new things everyday. They go through challenges in the years which brings them out as stronger better people. Marriage builds character. I've learned more patience and compassion in the two years I've been with my fiance then what I have in my entire life. A good marriage is abundant and overflowing with blessings and joyfulness and it is a beautiful thing. How can something like that not be good?
First of all a prenup can't prevent an ex-wife from receiving her ex's social security benefits no matter what! As long as the couple has been legally married for 10 years the ex can draw off of her ex's SS. 2nd, Women are earning more and working longer in life, we don't need a man to draw benefits from. We are capable of getting our own health benefits (I carry benefits for my husband and I) and guess what? Social Security won't even be around in another 20 years or so. That's why younger people need to take advantage of the 401K's offered through their jobs. Most women marry for love. It's sad how bitter and jaded men are where American women are concerned. Geez, I'm glad I'm already married, and to a REAL man!
Nowadays it seems like a few bad apples have discovered that way of living. There are still some good ones out there though. You just got to find them.

Yes, it happens. I would say that's NOT a large majority of American women, though. Most want love and security that will last.
