probably for the same reasons that Christ told us that many will come in my name, and deceive, but nothing is done about it, they teach traditions of men and false doctrine, and treat it like it is normal......
If it's buffet you can be free to choose, Paul talked about condemnation of people not bringing their own food, so it begs to compare these traditions , and definitely there is a gospel of twelve apostles that says don't buy meat from slaughter houses and yet almost all production of meat is from slaughter house and then there is GMO, and also drug/poisoned foods at any church wither in dual form or triple form
So be careful with any processed foods and eat meat sparingly

What food are they having at the church functions you have been to?
What do you mean by 'junk food'?
Our church functions always have good foods. Well, yes, there are some deserts ... but you don't have to eat them if you think them too "junky".
