Can’t grow my hair out?

I honestly have no idea what to do about my hair. Ive been trying to grow my hair out for YEARS and I keep running into the same problem. My hair gets to be to a certain length, and it wont grow anymore because of the split ends. So I go and get then cut, but by the time my hair is that lobg again, it needs to be cut because all the ends are split again. So most of the time, I dont even get my hair cut because it isnt worth it. I dont know how to prevent this problem. I would also like to add that I have VERY forgiving hair. Its thick, it was processed beyond repair for basically any other person, but my hair healed. I love my hair, but I cannot seem to get around this one issue. Help?

I've done practically every thing (accept getting professional colour or a relaxer done) to my hair and have had all most every length of hair you could imagine. It still grows and I'm turning 41 in March. I managed to grow it down to the middle of my back.

You have to learn how to prevent split ends to begin with. When you get a hair cut put a leave in conditioner on the ends of your hair the next time you wash it. It would help if you eat healthier too, lots of omega 3 oils are good for your hair.

In the mean time you should use products that help repair damaged hair. Avoid straightening it with flat irons and using too many heat styling tools on it.

If you've straightened your hair in the past, STOP! It may grow slowly or none at all. Hair that you see now is dead. Wikipedia. But it has static electricity, when using heat, it sends currents to the roots, tampering them, they go into a coma. The RESULT of damage to the follicles from excessive styling or harsh chemical treatments. The result could take years! Think laser hair removal.

HAIR THAT HAS lots of splits, and your hair is NATURAL, it only means: you're not eating properly. If your nails cracked, and your hair has lots of split ends, are signs you have a poor diet. Hair does not repair itself, like skin. Hair is DEAD. They NEED to be cut.

get a regular trim to remove split ends, and stop creating the split ends by staying away from heat and doing a deep conditioning treatment weekly.

Your hair won't grow on forever though. A hair follicle will live until a certain point, then it dies and the hair falls out. So even with perfect care your hair may not be able to get super long.
