When I was deployed to Afghanistan in 07-08 no one was aloud to wear any "Hooah" badges. (The Army nick-name for skill badges like the Combat Action Badge, Combat Infantry Badge, Airborne or Air Assault wings, etc, etc, etc)
If your Army enlisted are doing it now, that is a policy change. The rationale back then was that if you wore all those extra badges on your chest, you made yourself a higher priority target than someone else of comparable rank/position by showing off to everyone that you had some specialized skills/training.
You can take that logic and just go without the badge for a little while. Especially if you are one of those Navy who is actually down range on a longer tour (i. e. you are working more closely with the Afghans and go outside the wire frequently).
OR:
If it is really important to you and you want to wear it:
ask your chain of command.
The current policy on badges SHOULD have been briefed to you when you entered theater, but if it wasn't, or you missed it: ASK. What's the worst they can do? Say "no" and maybe yell at you a little bit.
If you can't ask your command a simple question like this, what are you going to do when it is something really important?
Why are you asking here? Check with your chain of command what you are and are not authorized to wear. If you have a NKO account any awards that you rate should be posted on your awards page under your "personal history".
