if the game is designed for single core, it will only use a single core in a dual core system. the program has not been coded to look and take advantage of the second core. so your left with a game that requires 2.5ghz on a 1.66hz system. you can possably play it if you turn off the shading and other stuff though it still depends on your graphics card.

Yes, since your CPU is a dual core, it will out perform the P4, even if it is slower.
