My cat is 6 months old and I adopted her when she was 3 months old. The thing is I love this beast but she is kind of a ***** and she keeps giving me tiny scratches on my hands or even tries to bite me in a very tender and soft way(because she stays indoor all the time and never bitten by any other animals so I never had her vaccinated). I had 5 shots of rabies vaccine for human in January so I wasn't worried then. But lately I learned that this kind of vaccine only works for like half a year,so I was wondering is there any possibility that my cat has rabies? if she indeed has it, how do I tell? besides giving her rabies vaccine which i will very soon, do I have to take another shots just to be safe?

Actually (and this comes straight from a doctor's mouth when I got a serious bite trying to save a stray cat) while rabies are to be cautious of, the biggest worry when it comes to cat and dog bites these days is not rabies. It's bacteria that cats and dogs have in their mouths which can cause serious infections, but if your cat hasn't been drawing blood when biting or actually puncturing the skin there's no need for worry. I've had cats all my life, all strays, and they've been giving me scratches and bites for years, never any rabies. If you've had your cat for 3 months you would have seen definitive signs of rabies, changes in behavior and foaming at the mouth by now. If you truly feel you should be better safe than sorry, by all means get the shots, but I don't think you need to worry.
It's unlikely, if she hasn't been exposed to other animals. But definitely do get her rabies vaccine ASAP. As far as the scratching, go to petsmart (or somewhere similar) and find something called SoftClaws. They're rubber coverings for the claws so that they can't hurt someone with them. Been using them with my cat for years, and it's saved thousands of dollars worth of furniture and door facings!
You don't have anything to worry about. This is normal kitten behavior. Kittens learn hunting skills by play scratching and biting. You don't need to worry about her having rabies.
You do need to get her vaccinated soon though. You say that she is 6 months old, so she is old enough now for the vaccine. You can't get a kitten vaccinated before that age.
Like I said, this is normal kitten behavior. She's playing with you. You don't need to worry unless if she gets overly aggressive and stops being gentle. As long as she's being gentle (which you say she is) you don't need to worry.
No it wont be dangerous. Just wash your hands after shes scratched/bitten you. Its nothing to worry about, certainly if she hasn't even been out yet and theres no blood!
wash the area and put on some neosporin. if your cat had rabies you would know it. she would be extremly ill.
Its best to be sure then sorry..
