Australia may never again produce batsmen of the caliber of Ponting, Hussey and Clarke- Ian Chappel…..Agree?
Who do you think will fill up those big shoes among the current lots? Are there any players, playing in domestic competitions, you think will go on to make big names?
Some will emerge, its inevitable. As long as Australia has a half decent domestic competition then players of that calibre will continue to come forward. There may be lean periods and it may take more time between these players but they will still come through. I disagree with Chappell
Wouldn't say never, but players like Ricky Ponting, Michael Hussey and Michael Clarke do not come around very often in the entire planet let alone a country with about 22 million people. I think Australia has some talent in the ranks which has the potential to be a great like Ponting, but they just need to put in the hard yards like Ponting did for about 20 years.
I am sure the same was said when the Chappels, Lillees, Marsh's etc called it a day....then along came Ponting, Hussey, Gilchrist, McGrath etc etc...these sorts of players are generational players, given enough time there will be the next crop of superstars coming through. No-one right now looks like an absolute star but they will come.
yup, I am agree with you.Australia may never again produce batsmen of the caliber of Ponting, Hussey and Clarke- Ian Chappel. But shane watson can fill-up some space of their.
Great batsman can never be replaced in Cricket and neither they are born great. These great Cricketers work so hard to achieve what they do,some have natural talent like rohit but still fail consistently.Only hard work and dedication in sync with consistency be able to produce a great batsman.Australia might not have one at the moment but am sure they will find someone in future,it will take some time.
I expect to see my nephew playing for Australia within 10 yrs. Already he has played in Kuala lumpar,Malaysia , Hong Kong ,and now England Not in visiting games, but playing over there for a team.He is only 15. Under the AIS , he goes to school, has a full time nanny, and a coach. He flies home for visits, and has unlimited satellite contact with home. When you count this sort of thing for many sports in Australia , then obviously it costs a lot of money. That is why Australia has so many elite athletes in a vast range of sports.Already ,he has sponsorship with bats, and gear.
Other cricket countries do not do this sort of thing..
Yes i agree....we all know currently australian cricket struggling... But they will come up again with strong note. There teams as lot of domestic players who are well talented like moise henriques, steven smith, philip hughes, cameron white, peter forrest, michel starc, pat cummins, pattinson, ben hinlfenus, glenn maxwell.....like bt these guys will need some time to get experinced...they wil show better performance in their home and outside.......
BUT AUSTRALIA WILL NEVER SEE ANOTHER PONTING,CLARKE, WARNE,MECGRATH,SYMONDS,GILLY......
it looks like steven smith is Australia's virat kohli ..both have same hair cut ...Aussy really need to send their A team or group stage teams to indian sub continent ..without proper preparation just blaming on talent is not the right way to go ..
No one knows what will happen in the future. But there are some who can be good if nurtured properly ( which unfortunately CA isn't doing). Most of the guys who failed in India can still score heavily against the pacers. It's just that they need to be groomed properly to play spin. Ponting wasn't actually good in Indian conditions. Clarke and Hussey were.
CA need to devise some plans so that the young batsmen can practice in India. Take the example of England. They send youngsters over to India for training programme for facing quality spin on spin friendly pitches. No wonder they did so well when they came here. There are plenty of talents in Australia. It is just the grooming that is needed.
The same goes with other teams too. Previously the Indian players used to play county cricket. That is why they were successful on foreign soil. This is the key to perform in alien conditions. Once you know the conditions well you will be able to do well.
The loss is exaggerated here. Teams sometimes do lose. Nothing fussy about it.
